Hello everybody,
I thought we could share our ideas on playing outside of the scale.
This is something that im pretty limited in at this point but I'll share my devices with you anyway.

One way which i enjoy is playing the bebop dominant scale over a Vchord in a minor progression as if it was a tritone substitution even when its just a straight up V dominant.

e.g. playing in Cm - play a C# dominant bebop scale over the V chord which is a G7 or Galt.

So there is my little contribution, like I said I dont know much about playing outside so please kindly share your ideas Very Happy

When using minor pentatonics on dorian modal tunes, try playing the pentatonic up a halfstep from the root. You can play minor pentatonics from the root, ninth, and fifth. Try playing a pentatonic phrase off of the ninth, then play the same phrase down a halfstep, then again off the pentatonic from the root.

Idea
Sometimes for some extra spice try a little quatral harmony.
A favorite of mine is a triple stop ( a, d, g strings ) up a minor third then back, half step up and up a minor third and back. Repeat this pattern until you've crawled as far up the neck ( and out ) as you want to go then try working it desending.
Played fast enough this will turn a few heads...
Always remember the resolve has to be happening.
