My favourite fusion artist is Mike Stern and I very much recommend his 'between the lines' album which really rocks!

Check out the Yellowjackets, especially their early recordings with Robben Ford. In my opinion, they represent the absolute best of fusion: melodic, harmonically sophisticated, funky, and intense as hell.

They may not be really a jazz fusion band but i suggest that everyone check out New Monsoon. They incorporate all types of music; indian, jazz, bluegrass and so much more. They are more of a jam band like the flecktones... who are one of my favorite bands. So check em out.

Martino baby

Saw the Yellowjackets with Robben Ford in 1979 at the same place where I witnessed Bruford. I loved his phrasing and he wailed! At that point in time the shredders were becoming known, and Ford was in distinct counterpoint to that group of ego-monsters.

Also check out my man Roy Buchanan.
