I bought this soundcard/interface: http://www.line6.com/toneport/ . Perfect if you want to record on a laptop.

The Jazz Clean model based on Roland JC120 sounds real nice...

If I want to record from My VOX Tonelab I just connect it to Line input and bypass the amps and effects in TonePort.

The day I buy my Fender Blues Junior (or what it will be...) I just put my microphone Shure SM57 in front of the amp and record...

I think I like it...

Wow, I totally missed this post. I use a GuitarPort in my 'remote studio' (aka bedroom) religiously.

The *only* thing wrong with them is Line 6 doesn't publish the API so people like me could write more effects, models..etc Otherwise...love it!

Well, I returned it after testing for a while, it really demands some CPU power, on the edge of what I've got right now...so I returned to desktop recording and bought a E-MU 0404 soundcard with onboard DSP effects instead...not that I will use it, for recording I'll use my VOX Tonelab and when I've changed pot's and the tube in my Marshall Valvestate 40V I'll try to record with a Shure SM57 microphone instead...I think I will get a little more "bottom" in the sound, Line6 Guitarport and TonePort lacks that "bottom"-feeling and is a little bit thin to my opinion.

...and laptop recording wasn't a hit after all, it's a laptop I share with my wife with all the antivirus, firewall and other programs, gardenpictures and other stuff on that...I cannot tweek it the way I would like to ( http://www.musicxp.net/ )

Oh, I have had a Guitarport and thought it was great at that time...

Yeah, it's not the end all but for quick and dirty it's a good deal. The Gain based sounds with some tweaking are actually pretty darn good.
But they are limited and you can't use other plugins or write them. If we could do that I guess it would be called GuitarRig Laughin my arse off

I've used it for some tracking and it's easier to get a good mix with the little guy compared to a full blown amp setup. But isn't what I would do master tracks with regularly.

Mic'g an amp is most often your best option in sound. Wink

I've got the UX2 and it's REALLY good. Fantastic sounds and easy to use. Smile

I changed it for a soundcard E-MU 0404 and a GuitarPort instead...and downloaded the free upgrade of Gear Box 3.0 for GuitarPort...
