WElcome Peaceful, a big part of learning jazz is to listen to as much of it as possible.Listen to early stuff recorded 60 s on ,Joe pass, Jimmy smith, the cord tones and techtures of Kenny Burrell. Also listen to other instuments , sax, and trumpet lines for timing John Coltrane, Duke Ellington. Listen, Listen ,Listen, hear it in your head. Learn simple suff first and try to play tunes with a melody line. Learn on

UPDATE: since no one responded to his friendly hello for nearly two years, peaceful has moved on. peaceful is currently leading a "gangsta rap" (remember that thread?) quintet and hates jazz and all things jazz related. he also no longer wants to be our friend.
