Sadly passed away today. A great loss. One of the legends in our own lifetime.

If this is true, it is a great loss to the world. He was recently on the cover of Downbeat. I saw him with Weather Report for 75 to 80 at least four times.

Surf's flat!!!!!!!!!!!

Rest in peace Joe.

It's sad news, I was hoping to see him for the first time at a concert later this year. Sad

won tix to a JZ Syndicate gig last year and I'm very happy to have heard him, a legend.

Didn't love everything but the bits I liked I REALLY liked. I think his stature as a composer will be the lasting legacy.

We played two of his compositions in tribute on a concert last Sat. night.

Yvette, a beautiful ballad, and 74 Miles Away, a piece in 7/4.

My family is very good friends with the Zawinuls. Stayed at their home, played at his club (well everyone but me). Played and recorded with him. And no less is/was my little bro's biggest hero from a very young age. Scott keeps putting up more and more blogs related to Joe on his myspace (http://www.myspace.com/scottkinsey) if at all interested in surfing it.
