Hi, I love this site

I'm living in Japan now (for work purposes) but I'm from England originally.

I've always been a fingerpicker: started out 13 years ago playing acoustic blues and pop tunes on a steel string, switched to a nylon string 2 years ago and began focusing on classical guitar. I've built up a pretty solid CG technique and now I want to start playing jazz on my nylon strings Cool

My jazz guitar heroes are Charlie Byrd, Baden Powell, Earl Klugh and Lenny Breau. I also really like Segovia's classical recordings, though he was a crotchety old sod at times Wink

I apologise in advance for any noob jazz questions I may ask in the coming months.

Very Happy

"yoroshiku onegai shimasu", as they say over here...

Wow interesting. How long have you been in Japan. I hear the Jazz and even the guitar scene over there is very interesting.

Hi all and thanks for the welcome!

Been in Japan since 1996. Originally I only came over on a one year contract because I was so bored of life in England , but I met a local girl who soon became the love of my life and the rest is history Razz I have 3 kids now (ages 8, 4, 3) and a house in the suburbs. Shocked

But another of my loves is music, especially guitar-based stuff. Tokyo is a great place for live music of any genre. Seen some great jazz here, both local and foreign. Great food and skirt here too, but that's for another time and place Wink

If anyone ever comes to Tokyo let me know and I'll give you the tour!

Keep on noodlin' guys and gals...
