Did anyone happen to catch the Grammy's last Sunday night? Any particular performances that you liked? Do you think that everyone who won deserved to win?

Personally, I was pretty shocked that Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band was not recognized. Not to discredit the other jazz bands and singers that received recognition but Big Phat Band has been committed to the jazz industry and is generally more recognizable than those who actually won. Awards handed out for "Best Instrumental Arrangement", "Best Instrumental Composition", and "Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album" have been given in the past to jazz musicians and recognizable ones with more than a couple hundred albums sold. This tradition should be kept alive at all costs, yet unfortunately was not followed through during this Grammy Awards. I continue to enjoy Big Phat Band's music and hope that listeners will join with me in looking to support and bring this injustice to the eyes of fans and followers of jazz music.

Unfortunately I feel the same way. I don't bother with awards shows. It all seems to be a bunch of folks stroking themselves and then each other.

ohh..that didn't sound right. Shocked

I don't usually watch it, but this time I did. There were a few good moments
but I had to suffer thru a lot of awful stuff.
I thought some of the tribute things were pretty good, like the 4 Tops-
I think it was- had one original guy left. So the other three were Jamie
Fox and two other famous guys(?) that sang with him.
The last part of the show was pretty good but I almost didn't make it to the end.
The worst was Miley Cyrus and that other gal singing a song about being
15 (yrs old) and in love. Yikes! If I heard that in some club, I wouldn't
be able to get out of there fast enough.

On the other hand, did anyone see the Kennedy Center Honors? Great show!

Totally agree about Gordon Goodwin and Big Phat Band. Heard them a couple of times. Fantastic!
