A tough element of the time issue is that teachers who are busy and in demand have a harder time going over time.

When I've taken lessons with great players who weren't regular teachers they would go all day - one time I got an "hour" lesson that wound up being almost four!

I'm not a great player and certainly not known for anything, but I teach full time, so even with an advanced player I have to be pretty strict about the times. Like I said earlier in the thread, I was taking lessons with a Berklee teacher many many years ago and they were half hour lessons - the dude was teaching 70 lessons a week. Shocked
