Gorecki, I really think "making it known" publicly would just result in drama. Why not just keep the content of the forum related to jazz guitar, and any issues of moderation can be up to the moderator and whoever may have the complaint?

Don't disagree with you Jake, this thread is that very same drama. I'm only offering up options for self moderation because usually people don't care enough to tell me something is going on.
Rolling Eyes
Stop rolling your eyes GS, you're one of the assholes Wink

If the content were confined to jazz guitar, a lot of the people who've left over the past few months would probably still be here. Why do you think there have been so few posts.....folks got sick of the bull shit from the assholes and left without saying goodbye. I'll check back in 6 months or so. Bye.

Its the nature of the beast.

Ill start a consensus. Lets have Generic Sobriquet, ebenezer scrooge incarnate, kicked off.

My estimate:

-600+ posts of sheer crap

-100 posts of sometimes interesting social commentary

-40 meaningful posts about jazz guitar.

Its not so much the only having 40 meaningful posts about jazz guitar but the 600+ posts of garbage.

look, if someone is being a jerk on this or any site or in the real world for that matter ...you always have choices:

1. ignore their dumb ass

2. call them on their boorish behavior

3. throw a hissy

4. tape/tuck yer johnson up and scurry off

To be serious I dont really want GS or anyone else off the board. My post was more a joke than anything, as are the majority of my posts in the last year.

I thought the thread starter's post was extremely self indulgent.

agree with the planet guy

This happens on every forum "oh it used to be so much better" or "omg there are so many trolls here now."

Unless if a forum is ridiculously over-moderated there will always be people posting who you don't like, and people whining, and people being mean, blah blah blah.

The internet becomes a much better place if you just learn to deal with it.

Also, just because some people have a style of posting you don't like, doesn't mean they don't also offer things that are useful.

Voted off the island!

P.S., my eye roll was mostly at the irony and hypocrisy of Jazz Playa's post.

I will admit I left here for a long time after getting irritated that there were very few posts (for a long stretch) that had anything to do with music-- just some political rants and questions about gear. Had nothing to do with anyone personally attacking me.

IMHO, the "goodbye" post is kinda dramatic.

I feel like things had actually been a little more interesting here in the last few months than they had been in a long while, but now things seem to be crawling along again...too bad, there's a lot of folks here who know their shit.

Context is an interesting point though. If he had had that rant directly at me, I would have gone home with my tail between my legs, and certainly not thought that he was an a.h.

If he did that to me personally night after night I would quit and think that he was a harsh, unfriendly bastard.
