Thought I'd share a few pics of my new guitar. Highly reccomnded for anyone looking for a semi-hollow...there's not a whole lot of these out there, but they can be had at half the price of a Gibson 335 with a figured top...

The guitar is flawless in fit and finish, and sounds great too. Sound clips soon, I promise!

compared to a 335 it appears that the fretboard is raised quite a bit relative to the body, but maybe i'm wrong. it has a very open cutaway.

interesting design. no excuses for not reaching those high frets, eh?

no, you're absolutely right, the fretboard is quite elevated.

Couple that with the cutaways and you've got access to all those notes above the 15th. Now I gotta start using 'em, I guess.

Yes, he has his own sig verythin-- one pup, ebony fretboard and tailpeice, and an archtop style bridge...it's a beautiful guitar.

I opted for the standard as I got a very good deal on a lightly used instrument (more like NOS, it's a 2002) and I was looking for kind a of a "swiss army" guitar...something I can use for straight up jazz, the "live" hip hop group I play with occasionally, and a little fusion project I'm trying to get off the ground (think early Pat Metheny Group meets Tortoise)

I think I've found it.

I've heard John Stowell play one these Hofner's up close and personal at a jazz festival workshop. It must have one hell of a neck because the stretch voicings he uses would cause any normal person to roll around on the floor writhing and squealing from the pain.

I know, because I tried.

Cannot remember what sort of amp he was using (probably borrowed) but the tone he got was very good during this impromptu session.
