Hey everyone,

What, if anything can be done with cables that make noise or cut out briefly when bent/moved near the jack ends? Can they be cut down a few inches and re attached or do you just take the loss?

First things first, are you absolutely positive it is the cable? It could the jack just not making clean contact. I've seen 1/4" plugs have ever so slight size differences and some just don't make clean contact.

Otherwise, yes! The cable end(s) can be cut back and reattached or replaced (some are cast and need to be replaced).

Just a little work with a soldering pencil and it's a done deal. The cable is a simple two conductor (center wire, outer shielding) wire.
