StewMac sent me pretty good newsletter on mixing passive and active pickups on a hollow, so I thought I'd share.

I have to contend with Fishman transducers on my upright bass....it has always been sort of a relief to grab one of my archtops and know that it's got nothing but a magnetic pickup to deal with!

i used to have Fishman piezo's on my '43 KAY C1....hated 'em. finally gotta Pierre Josephs magnetic pickup that mounts w velcro to the end of the fingerboard. WOW!

so....i kept the Fishman on for a while to blend in some of that w the magnetic....then i realized, hey "I HATE THAT FISHMAN SOUND!" and sold it.

i have no connection w P Josephs....just a very happy customer.

That Pierre Joseph bass pickup is intriguing to me. I may investigate further if I get back to playing more or less full time again, and if that's mostly with the bass.
