Had a fantastic birthday yesterday! Got a bunch of great books (that I had hinted very strongly about Wink ):

“The Guitarist's Guide to Composition & Improvisation”
“Chord-Melody Phrases for Guitar”
“Jazz Intros and Endings”
“The Advancing Guitarist”
Also got a Joe Diorio instructional DVD “Solo Guitar Concepts” and his “Creative Jazz Guitar” tape, but unfortunately it was in PAL format, so I’ll have to exchange it. (Actually, these 2 items were from Christmas, but my sister-in-law just gave them to me yesterday)

I also got some cash to help pay for either private lessons with David Bloom or one of his 8-week ensemble workshops at the Bloom School of Jazz here in Chicago.

All in all, not a bad take!! It helped me to forget that I’m getting older and that parts will begin to fall off soon Shocked .

Thanks. I just turned 49, but I feel like 29. Unfortunately I look like 59...

My birthday is Wednesday. It's funny, though, because you turned 49, and I'm only turning 16. It's great how we can both have the same passion. Keep it up and I will too!

Happy Birthday and I hope it was a good one!

Haha, yeah, it takes all ages... I'm 22, started to get into this when I was 20.

Paul, you'll have to let me know what you think of The Guitarist's Guide to Composition and Improvisation--I saw it on Amazon as something to get to go along with The Advancing Guitarist (which I already had), and I was looking for books on composition, so I ordered it, but I haven't had time to do much with it yet.

Then again, I've had TAG for a year and a half I guess and haven't really done anything with it yet either...

Hehe... My dad just turned 50 a few weeks ago, and when I went home he had me get out one of his guitars and play bluegrass with him. He can still play circles around me... and I'm sure you can too, you old man you Laughing

Thanks Steve! Actually, it should be 'Feliz Cumpleaños' since I'm originally from Buenos Aires.
