Do we need an intervention? Very Happy

Repeat after me:

"Sure it's pretty, but they're asking $5200 for a semi-hollow body guitar, and that's really a just a slab with hollow chambers you can stick your fingers into and I've heard some really tasty stuff from guitars that cost well under a grand. Although I'm a guitar player, I can change...I can fight this and win...if I have to."

Heh heh...

But to be serious for a moment, which I find difficult, but...

Some people are into acoustic guitars, Gypsy jazz, the old unamplified archops that are mic'ed if not played entirely acoustically.

And for that...yes tone woods make a difference. Although the visual beauty often doesn't correspond to the best tone. Some of the best sounding wood is as plain looking as barn lumber.

But given the guitars you report as giving you GAS, I must assume that you, like me, are more interested in electric guitars...and an electric guitar is just a wooden frame to hold a pickup and six strings. Sometimes it might be worth spending a little for a pickup upgrade, but...

We all have our preferences when it comes to dimensions and stuff like that (did you notice they don't even tell you the scale length of that $5200 beauty?) and I prefer hollowbody archtops -- not for tone but because I like some aural and tactile feedback directly from the guitar...but you can get that with cheap guitars too.

Never, Ever, forget the following: Each and every dollar not spent on guitars is a dollar that can be spent on booze and that's a very important thing.

Message received.

Some of the most beautiful looking guitars that I have played have been DOGS!!!

Carved tops on guitars while labour intensive and pretty most of the time don't sounds as good as the laminated ones when it comes to the tone I am looking for and the way I use the instrument (feedback howl and such)...

But having said that...

ITS SO PRETTY!!!!!!!!! Wink Rolling Eyes

BTW..Harrisons GB models are 25 " scale....
