Wow Gene, that is a lot heavier than carrying a guitar around, in more ways than one.
Still going down here. Playing a lot. They are talking about cleaning the
front of the Alamo. Watch it fall down when they do that. |

Good to see you back here. this places gets quiet from time to time ..but that is just part of the laid back vibe of this forum.
I never have been much of a travel bug but I would love to see San Antonio!!
...other than in pics
...relating to your other post. I actually met and played with Bucky Pizzarelli in Detroit when I was in my 20's. I was introduced through a friend ...now deceased that I am sure he would remember named Bob Burns.
Bob was an alto playing Englishman that had settled here in Sarnia for his last set so to speak and he and I became good friends.
He played with Bennie goodman with Bucky I believe and that is how the became friends.
That was a fun afternoon. Bucky had a gig with Stephane Grapelli and a Bass player whose name escapes me now...'Burr' maybe??...great show..
We spent the afternoon playing standards...just the three of us in his hotel room...
He was so much fun and patient with me...I will never forget it. |

Bucky sure is a great man. He treats you like family. I'll ask him if he remembers Bob Burns. I'm sure he will.
Come to SA for a visit sometime. Come in the winter. Too hot in the summer.
One time Bucky and Stephane and Burr were playing in Austin. Bucky rented a car and brought Stephane to SA so I could take them to the Alamo.
Stephane had always wanted to see it. Stephane enjoyed a boat ride down the river too. What a treat for me! |

One thing I will never forget about that encounter was just how sharp Stephane was.
A great experience that I will never forget. |
