I can't believe that I am making a post about a pick! Embarassed

However,

I ordered some of the picks that Kreisberg uses.....I know I am a victim Wink

They didn't give me his chops overnight but the pick is so cool that it is worth sharing here.

This is it...

They have a really sexy dark sound and I am lovin it.

Anybody else use them?

What advantage do you feel? Is it just more comfortable? Or is it the tone it imparts or what?

Yeah, I wonder if this falls into that 'Gear Obsession' category? Laughing

I haven't even tried a different pick in over 20 years. Confused

Gear obsession absolutely...
It just feels very comfortable for me...
I have always leaned towards a heavier pick and this one has less 'click' to it.
Very dark sound which I love.

For me the pick has always been the most important link in my playing....but I am a peculiar dude.

Well, I wouldn't qualify liking the qualities of a pick as peculiar. I consider it an important link as well. In my case it's part of my toolset that I don't want to change, so I've never attempted to change it.

Maybe you found your holy grail pick?

Same here...Dunlop Jazz III's for as long as I can remember. The D'Andrea is a little thicker at 1.5MM vs. the Dunlop 1.38. Is it heavier than what you were using before?

I was using these..but in the 1.14 thickness.

I find that with the new one..after some getting used to..I don't have to pick as hard to get the body of tone that I am looking for?

I use these Dunlop Cooper picks gauge #10.

http://ellisguitars.com.au/dunlop_picks/Dunlop_Pick_Copper_Hot_Licks.html

They've been discontinued for awhile now. I think I bought a final supply to last for a few more years. I use the rounded end, as I got used to the Warren Nunes approach.

I tried a few different picks over the years, but finally concluded that Fender heavy picks were good enough for me. They're cheap and although they wear out pretty quickly, the cost doesn't amount to enough that I can't keep the guitar case and my pocket full of them.

The only real beef I have with them is the same beef I have with any pick that has a fake tortoise shell color scheme...If I set it down or drop it on the bandstand, it blends in so that I can't see it. Tried some Dunlops in hot pink for that reason, but the shop I go to has a bin full of Fenders, so it was just easier to keep lots of spares.

I've been preaching about the Pro Plec for years. Great tone, chirp free attack. I found them when I couldn't get the Pickboy Jazz i had been using, similar material.

I've used Pro Plek on and off for a few years but the more square shaped ones, nice all rounder but these days I usually alternate between the Dunlop Delrin 500 or a V-Pick.

A few years back, when I was having some work done on one of my guitars at the Guitar Shoppe in Laguna Beach, CA, I looked at their pick selection. I like all types of picks and I found this one: http://fredkellypicks.com/flat/poly-baby-fat-flat-pick-36-pcs.html. I never really used it until this winter when I was cleaning up my study and found two of them. I liked the pick so much that I ordered a bag of 36. I do use other picks but this one is definitely a "go to" pick. I like the grip because it does not slip out and on the floor. . . Also, as a sculptor/art teacher, my right hand has had its share of abuse from hammering, welding, pushing clay, etc. so a small, quick pick is hard to hold except for this one. . .

Surf's up!

Yes, almost the same pick (http://www.guitarcenter.com/D-Andrea-Pro-Plec-Large-Round-Teardrop-Guitar-Picks-One-Dozen-110876-i1123858.gc) and definitely the same reason...that Kreisberg bloke!!
