Hey Everybody,

Here is a free solo transcription of a John Scofield solo on the Bird Rhythm Changes "Steeplechase". Rhythm changes has always been an enemy to the jazz guitarist, or at least to me. I'm working to release a book of modern jazz guitar solos on standards (featuring solos by Sco, Frisell, Adam Rogers, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Metheny, and more). It should be ready in the next month. This is a taste of what you will find in the book. It is a great solo with tons of vocab worth knowing. The sheet music is posted in the video description. Enjoy!

Here's a backing track for Scofield's Do Like Eddie (the main riff) that you might enjoy....

Hi
Rhythm changes: if you are talking about the harmony just play the guide notes of each chord (3rds and the 7ths) unless you got Olympic finger abilities. If you want to find out about this you could do a lot worse that study The Changes by Sid Jacobs in the Melbay Private lessons series.

I've got a video in which Sco says he finds Rhythm Changes not the easiest of things to do but I think his problems are of a different order to mine.

I hope you are all well. I am still alive obviously and surprisingly.
