For all guitarist in the Balto D.C Virginia area !!!!! I will be hosting a Jazz "set-in" at a local club on Thursday's starting April 20th from 7-PM until 10 PM every Thursday. If you are in the area or plan to be in the Baltimore area by all means do come in. I would LOVE to have some of my guitar brothers from this forum to come in. If you need more info let me know or PM me
My home email is listed in my profile.
Let's do this!!!!!! The house band is the Rodney Kelley trio, so I get to call the shots. It will be scary for me because My son will not be there wilth those BIG FAT KEYBOARD Chords. He has a little part time job in the eves.
(I'll see how long that lasts) Anyway it is a jazz guitarists dream to have his own trio to carry it and a spot to do it in.

Rod, I have to see if my work travel allows it, but if I can get down there, I'd love to join you. If I come, I'll bring my solidbody seven and will happily lay chords down anytime you want. _________________ Information is not knowledge,

| Thanks for the invite Rod, it would be worth the drive. Do you have a second Guitar amp?, or anything with reverb really works. Hope to meet some of You. I only want to play Rhythm or comp Or whatever. I save the lead for my tele, but I had to bench it again, it needs work. |

You won't have to bring anything( but your guitar's and heart), I'll have 2 fender amps there for guitarists, The set list will be mostly standards but what i would like to do is to have the floor open to anything. Sometimes you might want to get up and say let's get a groove in Dminor or something. no holds, just feel free to play. In addittion I have a big sign that will be hung up that says check your ego at the door and I WILL enforce it. We are all brothers learning, so brother MARTACUS and brother NORTON you dont have to just play backup behind anybody, step on out and do it.

| If this lasts into the summer I might make it up there sometime... it's only a couple of hours drive for me I think. |

Hey Rod, exactly where is this 'local club' or is that something you don't want to post openly? |

It was great! Rod Kelley is the coolest dude! Why because everyone around him is cool and if everyone around is cool, you must be way cool! Great group of folks...extremely forgiving!
For me it was a great adventure, I haven't played in that sort of environment in about 20 years. As in, there's a sax player? Small cozy nice environment with such wonderful folks.
We had great fun! And no one in any way gave me 'uncool' vibes when I brutalized, and I mean BRUTALIZED a couple of tunes I didn’t know. It was all alright.
I think we did a better version of ‘So What’ than what Rod had posted a little while ago, I think me comp’g behind helped stabilize the flow for the rhythm section. He (Rodney) whaled over that tune!
I encourage anyone one with the means and desire to come on out to this thing. It’s the safest place I’ve ever been so raw and still wanted to come back.
Heck some of you (like me) work your asses off most of the time, make a weekend of it. Come play Thursday and see the Baltimore / Washington DC area. ( I think that part helps for those with wives. ) |
