I play guitar for my schools jazz band but am pretty lost. I have no idea what my role is in the band, mostly because I have not been given any instruction or feedback. Any advice on playing guitar in jazz bands would be grealty appreciated.
Thanks. |

I am playing in a bigband at the conservatory where I am studding,
actually I found it a little borring, mostly because I am "limitted" by a full score, where my role allready is printed out.
But on the other side it gives me a great diciplin too, because I, like the other 20-25 musicians, have to follow the exact score througout....
And the solos that comes out in a bigband are also completely diffrent than solos in smaller groups, which I also find nessesary for like beeing preparred for other musical contexts.......
I dont know how big your band is, you didnīt wrote,
but you can try asking your bandleader for advice, or your friends that are playing with you.
Some of them will proppably say that they cant hear you, (Happens all the time )
