I checked out this guitar player named William Manser yesterday in Nyc in a trio. He is a great young player on the move. Great chops... very modern... great melodic sense. Really nice guy.

Seven pages and no mention of Eric Krasno from Soulive? He is a pretty young guy, and can really play- heavily influenced by Grant Green and Scofield. Check them out if you haven't already!

If Jake Langley has been mentioned before, he deserve to be mentioned twice.

Yeah a real good player for sure. He really needs to work on his stage presence though. He played practically the whole song with his guitar neck pointing straight at the crowd so you couldn't see his hands. He's got to realize that part of the show for people is watching his hands skate around the fretboard.

Someone you guys probably havn't ever heard (but I didn't read this whole thread to check) is Tim Goynes. He's a student at north texas in the One O'clock lab band and he's smokin'. He's got a great feel for it all, and really is interesting to listen to. One of my favorite guitar players now.

He plays on most all of the tunes on this webpage, which are recordings from a recital the sax player on the one o'clock put on, as well as some studio recordings:

I agree with the guys who mentioned James Muller. He is an absolute freak, as people have been saying. I've seen him a few times at Wollongong Conservatorium and this one time when he was playing with Jazz Mothership Orchestra, he looked dead tired as the whole orchestra did because they had just finished their tour. Just sat there and hardly played much then when it came to his solo stood up and really blew everyone away! One of the best shows I've seen was him and James Morrison and a few other killer musos that i can't remember their names. I think someone mentioned sharing transcriptions of James Muller stuff. Well i'm working on one that is his solo from "Just out of Reach" off Jamie Ohlers Double Drummers album.

So yeah James Muller and Kurt Rosenwinkel are pretty cool guitarists. Although i wouldn't call Kurt young hes been around for a while but has really developed his sound. On his early album "The Enemies of Energy" he does some really cool, fresh stuff. "Synthetics" is on there but is also on "Deep Song" his more recent album where hes completely re done it with a new band (i think)

Sorry about my crapping on here, i'm new to these forums, hope what i've said makes sense. Smile

Tim is amazing. I am friends with him. We met online when we were both members of Guitarwar.com He must have been 15! He has sure come a long way! I was kind of a mentor to him. I am real proud.
