HEy Guys, can anyone tell me more about Lawrence University in Wisconsin and the Conservatory of Music there? Do they have a good jazz program? How good school is it?

My son graduated from the music conservatory at Lawrence and is now doing quite well as a professional musician playing in a military band. He feels the school gave him a very good background. I would recommend the core music program highly but perhaps the jazz program would be not really strong, especially guitar...if that's what you're interested in. Wonderful faculty. Low student to teacher ratio. Talented and caring people. Great facilities in a beautiful little city. One caveat: the winters can be brutal. One very good thing: you don't have to march on a football field with a tuba! Good luck. Where else are you considering going?

It's an OK small school, with a low teacher student ratio like chordspinner said. I don't know if Dave Sullivan is still involved, but he's a good bebop guitar player that lives up there, and his son is a bass player that was in the Thelonious Monk Institute group and is now playing with Roy Hanes.

Hey Guys! Thanks for the information! I am going to major in their double-degreee five year program. I think that is probably the best option for se since i think it will be better to get onether degree in something completely different from music.
I am also thinkig about Ithaca College but here comes the money problem...Lawrence is the school that gave me the best scholarship so....I was also accpeted at the Universtiy of Miami and New SChool University but again...money is an issue so...
What do you think I should do? Having in mind taht I am an International student...
