Okay, here's the nuts and bolts intent for forum files and its content.
    · Member created non-commercial training materials
    · Provide the material via file attachment to gorecki@playjazzguitar.com with any description and or credits you want noted (5M or less per email please)
    · This area ‘will be’ forum member accessible only in time as to avoid bandwidth usage by search engine bots and passer’s by
    · In time we will decide if the files need hosting elsewhere (Ie playjazzguitar.com has a limitation on capacity and bandwidth, I would establish domain hosting for us out of pocket…yes I’m a nice guy)
    · Ultimate outcome is a member feature area where individual members can authenticate and post their materials (music,videos..etc) but we’re a ways off from that right now

Any comments, suggestions, dreams or desires? Suggest away!

Correction, this 'is now' a forum member only accessible area. If you are not logged into the forums, you will not be able to see the files. Wink

ohh and forum files is great idea, the other thing which would be great - tab & standard notation editor for posts and/or bb-codes for standard notation

Thanks Yagyu!

The simplest answer to that would be PowerTab.

http://www.power-tab.net/guitar.php

Also http://www.tabit.net is an option for ascii tab'g. Wink

yeah, j know this, but what with standard notation? is there any other way except using images? (gifs and so on)
And by the way, maybe change the text "code" after using [code] tag to tab Wink

Hmm..I see. Standard notation would be rough. Could be done using vrml, or some other rasterizing web engine but what is a good question. PowerTab and Tabit only use their own formats, graphic file or ASCII. Power-Tab isn't perfect but for free can be a very useful tool.

But if anyone wants to post a transcription they've done, it could be sent to me and I could post it as PDF or a graphic.

The bbcode tags can be modified but I'd rather wait a while on that and add a couple custom ones. There's a brand new version of the forums on the horizon and that could defeat any custom programming in our forum I've done.
