music education in the chicago public schools at least, is garbage. Some schools have good bands, but any kid looking to get into a college music program will be seriously lacking in the reading and theory departments.

HOWEVER, we're trying to change that...our little performance here was a start...kids learned about vocal range and transposing, and a lot of other stuff too.

Mr Beaumont,
Ever go to IAJE( International Assoc. for Jazz Education) Conference?
You'd love it if you've never gone. It's jazz heaven. Lots of big names
performing as well as students, and workshops& clinics for teachers and
performers. It's always the 1st or 2nd week in Jan. This year in Toronto!

i agree a musicschool, a college or a teacher will be fine, but if they are to far away, to expensive or if you are working fulltime you have to find other ways, and if we germans donīt speak english we can forget a music education

I played for my 96yr old grandma on Christmas day this year. When I sang "La vie en rose", she sang along. It was the best part of my day.

I just found this thread. Nice to meet you all!

Here's some pics of me:

1) With one of my all-time heroes, Robben Ford (quite a while ago).
2) After opening for blues legend, Bob Brozman.
3 & 4) Just some pics of me!

Sorry they're so BIG!!!!

Hey, nezumi, your grandma looks great for 96! My mom just turned 92 and
I took her to an "orphan musicians' " Christmas day jam session and she
had a great time with all the attention she got.

Good to see you other guys too.

Thanks you Jc,

My grandma's still got it, she was telling me the priest who said Christmas morning mass was so handsome, Grandma made sure she got 3 hugs from him that day. Embarassed

I hope your Mom's is good health (for a 92 year-old)

Alex66, cool pix!

peckerwood....

handsome lad

it does take a while to get the hang of standing up, soloing, and singing. I practice this outside (when it is warm) using the garage windows as mirrors to check my posture and try to keep the neck down a little bit. I'm only doing this in the hopes of looking 'cooler' Rolling Eyes
pffft.
