Used it at a gig through a Yamaha DG stomp modeller set to a twin reverb model straight on the desk. Sounded beautiful just like an archtop should and got a lot of remarks about the nice sweet sound of the guitar from a few non-musician audience members.
This was my first archtop and I havent used it much since I bought a better one a year after and never even had it to a gig before since I thought it wouldnt be up to it....wrong !! ...so thought I give it a try on its first real gig and it did the job well and I was playing at a very loud volume with hardly any feedback.
For anyone looking for a cheap but nice archtop, you wont go wrong with this. I plan to use it more often now. Cost me about $350 or something a few years back, if I remember. Dont let the price tag put you off. |

The quality of the new Chinese made Ibanez archtops is amazing!
Somebody is really paying attention to keeping things right in production.
Over the years I've gotten used to scarf joints and stacked block neck heels, but today at a store I saw a couple of blonde maple Ibanez AF's of some caliber that if they had Super 58 pickups on, Pat Metheny would be playin' em!
No scarf joint headstocks, no multi-piece heels! Looked to be three piece maple necks with a volute and decent frets!
Rival anything Ibanez was making in Japan. |
