I guess this is why they call George Benson one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time. This is just incredible playing

I would have loved to hear M. Tyner fold himself out at little bit more.
Thats the problem being a star player, doing a gig under the name of another star player....
You usually get a limitted amount of chorusses while the head name do whatever he wants.....
Thats not right, and Benson for being that great musician he is, should know better.....
Anyway....Great playing....Thx.

I posted a link to this video some time ago. I love his playing here, and in another video I posted a link for; Stella by Starlight.
Bjørn, I understand what you mean, but I feel this tune was "benson`s tune". If you know what I mean?
I have the album and the whole concert on dvd, and it seems that the concept is McCoy Tyner Trio feat. George Benson on some tunes. So I think it`s cool that Benson is in front on these numbers.
They also recorded a studio-album together in that same period called "Tenderly" by the way. |

Yeah Michael, you´re propably right.
But haven´t you seen these settings where the headname is the only one (allmost) who plays solos, but when the other guys finally gets one, they are twice as low or something else is wrong.... .....
Later.........

Jazzy, I agree with your assesement. I too have seen the entire dvd and it actually features McCoy Tyner mostly with George Benson featured on some tunes. The videos posted on You Tube where just the ones that featured George Benson. _________________ LISTEN!!! |
