First off i dont really like Derek Bailey and its not that i dont get it either. This video to me in fact is laughable at times. But i look at this section in a way as an archive of jazz history, and in that respect he should be on here.

http://www.eisenbeil.com/ This guy is someone to check out if you are interested in free jazz. He was a student of Dennis Sandole. Dennis' famous students include Coltrane , Jim Hall, Pat Martino, and a few other real big names. Pat has said that he studied Dennis as a person more than a music teacher. He details his thoughts on his bulletin board. It was at Dennis' house that Pat got to know John Coltrane. Eisenbeil is pretty intense, but some of you might dig it. I didn't find anything on Youtube.
I don't get Derek Bailey, but I respect him for not sounding like he's playing a video game. Allot of people sound that way to me nowadays. The guitar is a joystick and they are trying to master level 9 or whatever ,instead of playing from the heart. My preference is straight pure guitar, played expressively with at least some sembalance of originality.

I took one semester of lessons with Joe Morris while I was at Berklee. Must have been in 88 or 89.
