Hey, everyone. I got turned out to this site from the Les Paul Forum. I'm really a jazzer at heart, so this has been very refreshing. I've been lurking for a week or so, reading posts, etc. I'm eager to join in. I've been playing for almost 30 years. I play Real Book tunes with friends and when alone jam along with BIAB. I've recently joined a terrific 14 piece funk/soul/r&b band called Unified Tribe, hence my "handle." We've met with considerable success which has been exciting. I've tried to bring a jazz sensibility to the group, although much of the harmony is based on m9, maj7ths, etc. I'm a husband and father of two young children with a demanding, yet creatively interesting career so it's been a bit of a juggling act accomodating the band. Here's a link to the group in case you're interested. http://www.unifiedtribe.net/ FYI, the site was put together before I joined the band so there's no picture nor no real mention of me. You all seem very friendly and supportive, not to mention educational. I hope to contribute, learn and be more inspired to woodshed further. I'm a gear freak like many others, although I'm trying to tame that beast. I think that's enough for now. Just want to introduce myself. Thanks!

Michael

Welcome Michael! Your band sounds good even if it is not you playing. Must be fun to do!

Thanks, Jens. It's been a great experience. I do actually play on two cuts. The single "Back and Forth" and the ballad "I'll Do Anything." I do the guitar fills on a vintage Tele. We're playing a big SXSW showcase Wednesday night here in Austin. Thanks for checking out the site!

Hey, Hanni. We weren't overseas last summer, but the album has been doing well on your side of the pond. Feel free to spread the word. Smile Thanks!

Thanks, Jazzerchick. I'm originally from Chicago, then LA and finally Austin for the last 11 years or so. I see you're in San Antonio. Do you play up here ever?

Tribe, I play up there once in a while. I've played at the Elephant Room
a few times and some casuals. My buddies are Rick McRae,
Dave Biller, Freddie Mendoza, and the infamous Jon Blondell.
Do you come to S.A? I play at the Landing a lot.

I don't get to S.A often. Although my wife and kids are at Fiest Texas today. I see Rick play at a Mexican restaurant near my house often. Dave Biller is great. I see him at the guitar store. I bought a goldtop from him years ago.
