how do yall feel about the ella fitzgerald tribute album? It has folks like Michael Buble and Queen Latifah one it paying tirbute. Sometimes Id rather keep the artists work alone but a buddy I intern with at umg was playing it and I definitely like it. Details on it are one www.ellaonverve.com
I definitely am a fan of jazz music now though! |

Ella definitely influenced singers of every style. After all good is good.
I haven't heard the album yet, but I looked at the lineup and there are
very good people on it. Some that I don't think of when I think of jazz
singers, but they have really impressed me recently. Queen Latifah for
one example. Then there are a couple I'm not familiar with. I'm sure they
are ok too.
Since so many of the great innovaters are gone now, I'm glad some of
the current singers are stepping up for jazz. We need them to record
standards and great new jazz tunes so our music doesn't go away.
I still want to go look for new recordings by my old favorites, like Shirley
Horn and Mel Torme and a whole bunch of greats who are gone now, but
I know I must move on, so I'm glad my favs aren't forgotten and have influenced the ones filling the gap! |
