hmm, the stuff I've heard from him never sounds like that. That's probably the first time I've heard him play basically straight ahead jazz _________________ "Inspiration may be a form of superconsciousness, or perhaps of subconciousness - I wouldn't know. i liked that. his "out there" stuff is pretty good too.
i really like his contributions to the paul motian album, "garden of eden." _________________ “For the guitar is the most unpredictable and least reliable musical instrument in existence...and also the sweetest, the warmest, the most delicate, whose melancholic voice awakes in our soul exquisite reveries.”

Ben was on the scene before Kurt I think.... Sort of a parallel development I think. Maybe Kurt sounds like Ben??
Btw, great vid!!! There is a cool trio guitar CD with Ben and Steve Cardenas.... I like Steve alot!

Great stuff. I really like these arrangements.
I would recommend Ben Monder trio: Dust as an album. I like his stuff with Maria Schneider also, if you get the chance then try to check the guitar parts for her music I think he almost co-wrote them, there really well written for guitar and very challenging.
I would like to know if there are some (sideman?) albums where he plays more standards?
