Wow, that was nice.
Are his low E and B strings tuned down or is he running those two strings into some kind of effect? I see 2 output jacks...I wonder if his guitar is setup a little like Charlie Hunters.
Nice arrangement and beautifully played. |

You should get One Quiet Night by Metheny. It has "Don't Know Why" on it. The whole album is him playing solo acoustic guitar. _________________ "Without music, life would be a mistake." -Nietzsche |

Oh, btw, he's playing a baritone guitar with a Nashville tuning. _________________ "Without music, life would be a mistake." -Nietzsche |

| does that explain why his guitar appears like the second string is wound and the third isn't? It appeared that one of the strings was out of order or something of the like. I thought it was just an illusion. |

Yeah. It's tuned like this:
A-D-G-C-E-A (which is a fifth down from "normal" tuning)
However, the G- and C-strings are restrung an octave higher.
So the open G would be the same as the 3rd fret on the E string and the C would be the same as the 3rd fret on the high A string _________________ "Without music, life would be a mistake." -Nietzsche |

I've listened to this song like 50 times. I love the way he starts to play the bass notes after he goes through the melody once. It really gets to me. I'm a sucker for chord melody with those low bass notes.
So how do you learn to play like that. I can understand how you learn to make the inversions(or chords?) with the different tunnings. Has anyone here ever tuned there guitar like that? I'm interested in the interesting sound he gets.
How does it sound on a archtop, rather than acoustic. Is it worth it to tune like that? I'm guessing you use regular strings though.
I'm scared to try different tunnings, always afraid I'l break something.
So you experienced players tell me about this tunning.
