Hey everyone....Dave251 here. Hopefully I'll get some knowledge of chord work lurking around on the site. I've been a working musician for half my life, the other half I design/build/repair guitars and other stringed/fretted instruments. Worked as the in house engineer at PV's guitar factory from 96 thru 99; I have a patent on acoustic amplification.

However, my main thrust for being here is to learn to back up re: my wife and our "new" adventure into "torch" music. I have a pretty good knowledge of chord structure, but have always had a problem with stringing them together in a cohesive and progressive manner. My playing background includes a lot of CW roadhouse guitar, and bluegrass type acoustic guitar. From that background, I've always been interested in western swing, and particularly Eldon Shamblin, the great Bob Wills rhythm guitarist, and how he put his rhythm lines together.

And, secondly, I'm always on the lookout to improve guitars. I do build my own line of instruments, but also have been building systems for flattop guitars. I'm currently doing research adapting my current system for archtop instruments. In that regard, I just ordered a basic Epiphone single pickup lammed archtop.....that will be the "test bed" instrument to get this thing rolling.

Anyway, I look forward to "conversations" and input from the forum here....

Hey welcome!

I think that working on instruments are one of the most fun things to do. Making something sound good when no one thinks you can. I had a friend at a camp who had a cheep strat, and he serious messed that guitar up. The neck was a banana and the strings were inchs from the fret board. I spent one lunch fixing it. Messing with the truss rod, tightening the neck, and and changing the strings, messing with the bridge also.

Anyway, I love fixing things. As well as playing things after I fix them.

So you desging guitars, got any pic!

About the chords, just look around a little, and you'll find more that you ever wanted.

So your wifes into music what does she do musicaly.

So sorry for so many question, and my random story. Just trying to relate.

So welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay.

Morgan

It makes perfect sense to me. Last time I tried playing the fiddle, I started receiving calls from the ASPCA concerning my treatment of cats. Shocked
