http://www.jazz88.org/

Last time i checked the website it was the second "station news" section.

CMEA Jazz Festival 3/1

"When: This Saturday, March 1st. Where: Saville Theatre, City College. What: 20 Middle and High School Jazz Bands raise the bandstand beginning at 8:30am. Hear the future of this music! At noon, a special concert with the SDSU Jazz Band and Charles McPherson. Jazz 88 is proud to present this event with the California Music Educators Association. Free!"

Thats copied from the website.

Were I come in, is I will be playing

-Cowbell in some random song called "please don't climb on the iguana"

-Guitar in "besame mucho"

-and the best part is I will have a 16 bar solo in "groovin high" !!!!!!

So I will be playing with my middle school jazz band.

This one is going to be good!!!!!

And the guitar kid who needs work is playing the funk iguana song, and I play the other two. Great compromise.

I'll see if I can get a video.

Morgan

Morgan:

Man, I wished I hadn't missed that! Just saw your post today.

BTW - I took jazz improv at SDCC for two years, studying under Carl Hammond, who's a great guy and a wonderful musician. The class met every Tues. night and mostly we just played jazz standards and took turns soloing. It was a cool class. The final was a two-set gig across the street at a dive called the Honey BeeHive. A lot of fun!
