My name is Gregory Lygon, and I'm a noob . . . not simply to this forum, but essentially, to jazz guitar.

I have a background as an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist, and singer-songwriter.

Though I have been a guitarist for almost 30 years, I have recently taken the occasion of the birth of my son to take a sabbatical from performing . . . and to change my stripes.

I have studied jazz . . . but never stuck with it. Never consistently. I guess there have been many reasons.

I have now decided to make jazz my quest to the expense even of the whole folk/acoustic thing, which I have found artistically unsatisfying. I sold one of my flattops, got a Fender '65 DeLuxe Reverb Reissue and an Ibanez AF95 (with a Benedetto A6 pickup on order). Further, I have signed up for the PWYH 2.4 Course, and have started digging into the first excercise, along with Jimmy Bruno's "No Nonsense" material.

So, I'll look forward to contributing. Also encourage folks to stop by my website if you'd like to hear what I've done before. Thanks, and great to be here. Special thanks to Chris Standring for developing a unique approach that looks to be the answer I have needed all along.

Welcome, Gregory! I'm sure you will enjoy this forum. You play very
well, so I'm sure you will move on into jazz guitar without any
problems. Lots of great players here to confer with.
