|
|
Hey, My friend just basically gave me his Yahama Pacifca, it is a decent guitar but I really want to replace the pickups. It has 2 single coils and a humbucker on the bridge. Are there any Single Coil Replacement Pickups anyone would recommand for a brighter cleaner sound for jazz style.
I normally play on a Martin Accustic and an epiphone ally kat. So I am use to fatter sound. Any suggestions? |

It's pretty difficult to get a beefy tone out of a single, most want singles for the exact opposite reasons.
In my experience I haven’t found the Ally Kat’s to be all that fat and you hadn’t really set a pricing context for your needs so I’ll just take a stab at some suggestions.
First choice would be going EMG active all the way through, an SA/SA/81(or 85) set will give you probably the best and most flexible sound without modification to the guitar.
Next I would point you toward something like the Seymour Duncan
SL59-1 little ’59 in the neck position, this will give you considerable tonal and wiring flexibility still not having to modify the body. This is assuming the guitar has a five way toggle.
Hope it helps. |

| Man I have a WildKat, not an alley kat sorry, but yeah I run it through a Marshall 65rw and it sounds pretty good. I am looking at those semor duncan pickups, that was the direction I was heading towards, I am glad to hear someone has something postive to say about it. thanks |

The seymore duncan rails are great replacements. The Vintage rails are a good quiet single coil sound with no hum. The cool rails in the neck are GREAT! I've got a strat with a hot rails in the bridge, vintage rail in the middle, and a cool rails in the neck. This is an umbelievably versatile setup that is quiet but I can still get strat sounds and beefy jazz tones also. _________________ Fusion guitarist from Atlanta |
