Well I'm totally heart broken. One of my life objectives is to see this man in the flesh before his number came up. I failed!

Don't know what more to say, the man made such a massive contribution to all of us within his life time.

I'm more affected by the news than I thought I would be. Along with Chet Atkins, Les was one of my guitar "heroes," I started playing guitar because of Les' music.

He does leave a legacy. I think I'll go listen to some Les and Mary recordings for a while.

Looks as though CBS News Sunday Morning is going to run a bit on Les Paul tomorrow morning (16 Aug) at 8AM Central.

Well, missed that. Too early for musicians.

I was lucky to have seen him a couple of times back when he played at
Fat Tuesdays in NYC. Very memorable. Glad I went.

I just found out last weekend that the "Les Paul: In His Own Words" book is available in a trade hardcover edition from the publisher at a reduced price ($40). It's a fabulous book, well worth the modest price.

www.russcochran.com/bookstore

I've ordered a copy for browsing purposes, as I prefer to leave my signed limited edition in its slipcover. Very Happy

I scheduled a trip to NY 3-4 years ago to see him at the Iridium Jazz Club and canceled because of work/life or what ever BS reasons I don't even remember now.

Les Paul & Friends if you folks haven't listened to it is an interesting collection of folks. Les plays on some of the tracks. Not the jazzer crowd type of material but still has value.

Well to put a final cap on his passing, an image that amused me of him will always make me smile.

Rest well ole man, you earned it!
