Unfortunately, I agree, and I usually can get into this kind of thing on at least some level. Also, the audio in that clip is really bad. _________________ "Inspiration may be a form of superconsciousness, or perhaps of subconciousness - I wouldn't know. | A lot of notes saying absolutely nothing kinda like a vagrant walking down the street spouting meaningless babble. It actually turned my stomach. |

I like "fusion." I came to jazz through rock and then fusion ...
But, yeah, this isn't a particularly exciting example, for me. |

I like fusion too and actually I came to jazz through the same route as you describe. That playing in that video clip was atrocious IMO.
I'm just starting work on a musical project that is taking me back full circle to the type of music I started playing in the beginning. Although now with a lot more playing (and life for that matter) experience behind it, as well as mixing in some influences from sweet R&B music, which I love. This music is gonna be hot!
The artist's who have created all that great R&B music have such great sense's of melody I think musician's from all genre's could learn a lot from them. |

Is the meaning lost in translation from English to Spanish, is that a correct assumption?

Love Bireli Lagrene, just in general. That guy can play convincingly in a number of related styles and also does a mean Jaco impersonation on a fretless bass!
But, how badly was the rhythm guitarist rushing (-- especially obvious in his solo bit)?
Here's what you really need today:
Bireli Lagrene & Sylvain Luc - Isn't She Lovely

Some fantastic playing by both players on that track. That was much better than the first post in this thread. |

Yes but an apple that hides behind synth tone and and orange that doesn't. I usually cant get past the nauseating tone of fushion music long enough to tell if there is any substance there and I bet most of it is just novelty gags and bunch of excessive playing (i suppose some people are actually into that); I bet its mostly gear nerds who couldn't do much good behind an acoustic instrument. |
