take the ted greene studies in very small bites...dont try to learn it all ... (i studied with ted..) use the lines as a jumping off point...not the goal ... they should help you develope your own style...try not to memorize note for note the lines ted gives you but the essense of the lesson...

as far as being overwhelmed by dominate 7 chords and their extensions/alterations...break the chord up in three and four note lines(3 5 7 9 / 5 7 9 11 / 7 9 11 13 etc and then the altered notes b5 #5 b9 #9) at first..you will begin to see familier patterns of major, minor and other dominate lines appear..the melodic minor scale and its modes are a good study to see the potential of the altered dominate type of chords and their functions...
