Hey Gene,

Other than the (d7) to (db7), I use three different ones. Try:

F#m11(b5) F13(#11) to E7alt A7alt

or

F7(#11) E7(#9) to D7alt G7(#5)

or a pretty standard one:

F#m7(b5) F9 to Em7(b5) A7(#5#9)

By the way Gene, I really enjoy your playing. Post something soon.

Randy

Thanks...
I will try and get something up soon...Maybe time for another duet with Paul.
I appreciate the comments.
I found a turnaround suggestion somewhere on the net the other day that was F#mi11 B7 Fmi11 Bb7#11 that sounded interesting.
All suggestions are really cool...Whistling the tune all day at work today...Can't get that Bass vamp out of my head!
Surprised)

there's been a few times when playing solo or when taking a bass solo where the harmony instruments lay out that i'll play the turnaround to All Blues and then just take the tune there. then.....for extra credit, it's easy to switch back to Footprints if wanna.

what can i say...i'm easily entertained and amused! Wink

Oops, I guess I was a jazz-nerd like Gene, too! D7 to Db7, Real Book, yep, guilty!

I just checked Pat Martino's recording. He's in D-, rather than C, and his recording features:

| Db/G F#7(#9) | E7(b9)(b13) A7(b13) |

Interesting because it's rather non-functional harmony leading to the E7.

Randy, were yours supposed to be in C-? If so, I liked your first suggestion, but might have finished like this:

| F#m11(b5) F13(#11) | E7alt A13(b9) C/D G7alt |

Lots of changes, though. When you get down to it, the Real Book version is suitably hip, and simpler to work with. Smile
