Nice playing Jake, and thank you so much for not giving a lesson. Oh that is so refreshing. Anytime a youtube subject starts talking with a guitar in their hand, I just go CLIIIICK , off it goes. Even spoken introductions are frowned upon. There is so much great music on youtube. The talking just kinda gets in the way for me.

Hey thanks Ed, appreciate it.

I guess lesson videos and performance videos are just two different things, but I hear what you're saying.

Nice playing! Great lines and nice dynamics in the lines Smile

You're playing a bit loud compared to the band though Wink

Thanks Jens!

Yeah sorry about the volume, I just had to crank it to hear myself over the huge crowd Wink

Just got back from vacation today so I finally had chance to listen to this now that I have a decent connection again. Great job Jake, really love the way your lines flow. Wish it had kept going a little longer. Looking forward to hearing more from you Smile Cool.

Those are some sweet runs. You are needing some vol though. Is that your hollowbody w/out an amp. It would sound this much better(arms spread wide) if you amped that clean. very clean playing though. I'm new here and need to sharpen up my chops a bit to keep up w/you guys!! Embarassed

Cool stuff Jake...very hip. I had to sing the changes in my head a little to hear them--which is cool actually...that's one of the biggest faults I have in my playing, I address every chord maybe too much.

The DeArmond looks beautiful, btw--I like the sound of an unplugged archtop, but I imagine she sings amplified too...

Yeah it's a good observation, I definitely was not outlining every change. On something like RC I feel like there's a lot of room to stretch things out harmonically and rhythmically, so I intentionally try to flex the form a bit. Although RC has a lot of changes, they are all conventional cadences back to "I", so I like just thinking of it as "in/in/out/out" rather than Bb G7 Cm7 F7. My little rule for myself is that I try to outline the IV in the 6th bar, that's usually enough for my tastes...

In fact I guess this clip would best be enjoyed with the viewer comping along, as then the form-flexing has some context.

Thanks...her and I have been wrestling a bit. You probably saw my post about sitting/standing position. There's that issue, and I'm not sure if it's "my" tone. A lifelong pursuit, I suppose.

I'm not going to be a hog and start a new thread, but, like I said, it's incredibly easy to post vids to youtube with the iPhone, so I threw another one up just now:

Not really an arrangement exactly, just playing the tune real straight...felt like sharing it.
