Any of you folks own or tried one of these?
There is one for sale 3 hrs from here at a decent price. I may pick it up as part of my Mid Life Crisis whirlwind 'retail therapy' tour. Embarassed
I owned a 335 when I was a wee lad and it was one of those things that I wish I had never parted with.
I would like the Sadowsky semi hollow but that would end my marriage for sure....this seems like nice steps towards that sound without the costs of a divorce lawyer.
Gene
BTW... I currently can't see across the street because of the snow....I think summer is cancelled.

Didn't catch this when you first posted, but what became of the mid-life crisis? Did you pick up the 339?

Those look like cool guitars to me, too; but I haven't played one yet.

I found one that was an hour from here and went to play it.
I was all fired up as my current guitar just not doing it for me anymore and my archtop is just collecting dust.
Just not hearing it anymore either.
The 339 I tried had the 50's style thick as a tree trunk neck and seemed to be set up for slide Rolling Eyes
...Just like that the spell was broken Wink
I am trying like hell to get my semi hollow to forgive me but I still have the wandering eye.....
I did manage to pick up one of these...

This video has me dreaming Sadowsky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkTf81E2YTo
But it bothers me a bit that they are made in Japan.
The Colling I35 deluxe look sweet but at that price tag I am afraid to play it.
Maybe I will just buy a tele and be done with all of it Razz

Gene, I recently got a Dale Unger American Dream. Have you checked out those? It`s a really amazing instrument! I can`t recommend it enough, a really big upgrade from my Fender D`Aquisto.

Jake...

Very Sexy
I have maybe $2000 mad money that I can throw...but I may just just sit tight and save for something heavy...
Hard to do when you have the fidgets though!!
I just received a Lollar HB low wind that I will install in my semi hollow.
Could be just enough to get me past this latest round of grass is greener syndrome...
Some days the guitar makes me insane

Jazzy...
I am a big fan of you and the way you play this Music...but I am just not hearing the archtop sound anymore.
My 17 inch is a really fine instrument and if I develop a taste for that type of tone I am totally covered.
If I ever get a chance I will check out the Unger though for sure

I owned a 339 for awhile, The 60's thinner neck.

I played one gig with it. Not a Jazz player but play old standards, ballads, country and some western swing.

I like the neck and could get good sounds out of it, but never really bonded with for some reason.

I ended up selling it and I still have my Blue Gretsch 6120 which I like to play but am never satisfied with the sound.

cpl of semi-hollow thoughts (most of my thoughts are usually FULLY hollow) if you haven't already gone there yet.

Hofner Very Thin
Peerless
Eastman

..and Carvin is making about two or three variations on the theme that look promising.

Had a 339 for a while, very nice guitar but I also couldn't bond with it and ended up selling it.

The tone was very bright, nothing like a 335 (not better or worse, just different). My biggest issue was that sitting down it felt/balanced like a Les Paul, very low and "back heavy". Standing up it was great, super light, small and comfy. In the end it just didn't work out for me, but it was a very nice guitar...
