Hello friends,

If you donít mind I wanted to let you know about a video blog that I just started (by beginners for beginners, so to speak) looking at some Grant Green solos. These may be short lived, as now that Iíve actually uploaded a few things, Iím not 100% sure of how useful these will be. Please take a look and by all means send me any feedback. It's possible I may delete the entire website ... stay tuned.

http://www.youtube.com/talkinaboutgrant

Thanks!

Brian

I like your blog about Grant Green. Nice. . . Green kept it simple and to the point. . . I am still a beginner after ten years of playing jazz guitar. . . .BTW is that a Rutgers sweatshirt? I went to Rutgers for graduate school. . . . best, jjt aka surfrider

PS: I have a full Grant Green playlist on the iPod. . . always listening to it.. .

Grant Green is a GREAT entry point for people into jazz. When people ask me for tips on jazz for beginners, I always say that jazz is blues. There are lots of blues to listen to, but I like to steer them to Blue Note stuff with Grant Green. "Funky Mama" is something that non-jazz folks can sink their teeth into, for sure.
