Someone elsewhere posted that video of the kid playing Giant Steps. It was cool. And (this was on another forum and facebook) some folks noted that most of these child prodigies go on into obscurity. Made me dig up this remarkable video of another prodigy. I'm just glad he got his teeth fixed! _________________ All the best,

I know! What were you doing on guitar at 14? I certainly wasn't playing like that! I think I was still negotiating barre chords and maybe Jimi's Foxy Lady E7+9 chord. _________________ All the best,

Yeah, I couldn't play like that until I was at least 16! |

At that age, man I was all that! Played 'Eruption' beginning to end, had a little band, played just about anything Rush ever did!
BUT, very shortly thereafter when included in a long standing 'old guys' combo called 'The Notables', is when I really started to BEGIN to understand...I didn't know squat! _________________

I am still working on that E7+9 chord
When I was in college there was a a child prodigy program at night. It was freaky...all these we little kids performing bach and stuff...
Pretty discouraging at times

Yep!
Lots of good memories from those guys. One amusing part is when I first started and discovered who was part of this combo was none other than the school gym teacher everyone was terrified of, self included!
Little did I know, Gene was ONE HELUVA trumpet player! After that, my best bud at school. Friends would watch with jaws hanging as we would be joking around in the hallway. It was funny as hell to see him joking around with me, then go bark at another kid like a guard dog! _________________
