Hello everyone,
I am pretty close to buying a new amp.
I have been moving strongly towards Jazz & Blues hence the amp change, & I have almost settled for a Fender Bluse Deluxe Reissue.
Now, I know this will sound weird but for some reason the Bogner Alchemist combo keeps flashing in my head, flirting with the idea that I can still keep on playing my previous "heavy" stuff aswell without compromise.
Confusing as I tend to be, can anyone give me input on the Alchemist's clean channel capabilities from a Jazz point of view, or maybe discourage me from the Alchemist option in a really elegant manner? |

Welcome Dr. K-Miller,
I would trust my ears 1,000,000 times more than opinions expressed here . . . You probably won't find much love given your premise . . .
However, if your ears say, "Yes," trust them and be happy. . .
You'll likely find little joy in negative gobble-de-gook expressed by people that have no idea what your amp in question sounds like, or experience using it.
Let's just say that great tone can be found in unlikely places. All it takes is a little courage to leave the stereotypes, and some imagination to close your eyes as you play what you hear inside.
Be different. Blaze your own path. Trust yourself. If your Bogner resonates your tone, you found your amp.

Trust your own opinion of a guitar or amp. Form your opinion from what you value. Your need, preference, circumstance, experience, and opportunity are the most important factors. |

Thanks for th reply.
I know it's a weird "dilemma" but I was hoping someone would have tried the Alchemist & that I would get some sort of "It's great for jazz" or "It's clean are terrible" type of comment.
I have to try & track those amps down to have a listen but it is very very difficult to actually find the time (swamped with work & 3 children ).
Thanks for the input though, I guess the "All it takes is a little courage to leave the stereotypes" thing is easier said then done, especially if a large amount of money is involved. |

Dr.K-Miller: Guitar Player Magazine includes the Bogner Alchemist in its February 2010 issue, in a roundup of 5 combos. Amp in question receives favorable commentary. You might find the article to be interesting if you are still considering the amp. _________________ Beware of alliances that are formed by dividing relationships of others.

That sounds interesting - do you know which are the other 4 combos? |

I am mistaken. There are actually six medium power tube combos. The others are the Blackstar Series One 45, Club Amplifiers Classic Series II Blues, Kendrick K-15, Soldano 44, and VHT Lead 40. The Bogner receives kudos for its clean tones, and more. Will you have access to the magazine in your area? _________________ Beware of alliances that are formed by dividing relationships of others.

I have to be on the lookout at certain places that carry international titles but yes I think I will manage.
Many thanks for the information & Merry Christmas! |
